Dynamic Pushbroom Stereo Mosaics for Moving Target Extraction

چکیده
Our goal is to rapidly acquire panoramic mosaicing maps with information of all 3D (moving) targets as a light aerial vehicle with a video camera fights over an unknown area. Parallel-perspective pushbroom stereo mosaics approach has been proven to be an effective method to stabilize image sequences and to obtain better 3D reconstruction results than using interframe motion stereo. In this paper we propose a dynamic pushbroom stereo mosaic approach for representing and extracting independent moving targets from unknown 3D scenes. Each mosaiced image (obtained from time-varying images) is virtually a “moving picture”, and multiple such mosaics provide salient motion features from various viewing directions. Independent moving targets can be easily identified in the matching process of stereo mosaics by detecting “out-of-place” regions, which violate epipolar constraints and/or give 3D anomaly. We propose a segmentation-based stereo matching approach with natural matching primitives to estimate the 3D structure of the scene, particularly the ground structures (e.g., roads) on which humans or vehicles move, and then to identify moving targets and to measure their 3D structures and movements.

Content-Based 3D Mosaics for Dynamic Urban Scenes
We propose a content-based 3D mosaic (CB3M) representation for long video sequences of 3D and dynamic scenes captured by a camera on a mobile platform. The motion of the camera has a dominant direction of motion (as on an airplane or ground vehicle), but 6 DOF motion is allowed. In the first step, a set of parallel-perspective (pushbroom) mosaics with varying viewing directions is generated to ...

متن کاملExtraction of digital elevation models from satellite stereo images through stereo matching based on epipolarity and scene geometry
This paper addresses the problem of generating digital elevation models from satellite images taken by linear pushbroom cameras. Since there exist unique geometric properties for linear pushbroom images, we argue that the conventional DEM generation schemes developed for perspective images are not suitable for satellite images. Using the geometric properties of linear pushbroom images, we desig...
متن کاملError Characteristics of Parallel-Perspective Stereo Mosaics
This paper analyzes different aspects of the error characteristics of parallel-perspective stereo mosaics generated from an airborne video camera moving through a complex three-dimensional scene. First, we show that theoretically a stereo pair of parallelperspective mosaics is a good representation for an extended scene, and the adaptive baseline inherent to the geometry permits depth accuracy ...
